Power or Energy, we’ve got it covered.
ActaCell’s focus is on lithium ion materials innovation and development. ActaCell holds the worldwide exclusive rights to two novel technologies originally developed at the materials laboratory of the University of Texas at Austin.
These include a stabilized manganese spinel cathode preparation technique and a high energy nanocomposite alloy anode based on antimony. Both use inexpensive precursors and are made in the United States.
Power Cell Design:
Using our patented stabilized cathode and low impedance construction techniques, ActaCell has created a Power Cell to meet the requirements of next generation’s strong, mild and micro hybrid electric vehicles.
The Power Cell is 3½ times more powerful than the battery used in the Toyota Prius. The size of the cell can be tailored to the application, be it Class 5 & 6 hybrid trucks or grid stabilization. ActaCell works with US based automated manufacturing partners to produce high quality production cells.
Energy Cell Design:
Integrating our nanocomposite alloy anode into an energy cell utilizing Manganese Rich Layered-Layered cathode yields a design that:
- reduces the weight by 1/3
- reduces the volume by 1/3
- reduces the cost by 1/3
all the while
- increasing energy by 33%!
Our nanocomposite alloy anode increases battery cycle life and high temperature performance by mitigating manganese poisoning of the anode. Safety is enhanced because the ActaCell anode eliminates the chance for lithium metal plating. Current efforts are underway to scale the nanocomposite anode material, with support from NIST/TIP funding.
Capabilities:
ActaCell has the ability to not only make novel cathode and anode materials in house, but also to mix, coat, calendar and punch electrodes. ActaCell’s dry room allows for optimal cell assembly, electrolyte fill, and formation conditions. Large format pouch cells can be made and fully tested, using a number of battery cyclers and thermal chambers.
